Sourcewell is a public agency in Minnesota that runs a national cooperative purchasing program. If you knew it as the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), that's the same organization — it rebranded to Sourcewell in 2018. With more than 50,000 member agencies, it is one of the largest cooperatives available to colleges and universities.

How Sourcewell works
Sourcewell competitively solicits and awards contracts on behalf of its members. Because that competitive process is already complete, a member institution can buy off a Sourcewell contract directly — no separate RFP needed. The model is funded by administrative fees that awarded suppliers pay when their contract is used, which is why membership is free for buyers.
